PORTOVENERE AND CINQUE TERRE, THE ANCIENT VILLAGES ON THE SEA - TRIP CODE: VILLAGES

With this package we offer you an excursion with a specialized tour guide.

This experience is aimed at both groups and individual travelers, who want to discover the two sites that have become UNESCO heritage and jewels of this area: Cinque Terre and Portovenere.

Here is how UNESCO describes these landscapes:

"The eastern Ligurian Riviera of Cinque Terre is a cultural landscape of exceptional value that represents the harmonious interaction established between man and nature to create a landscape of exceptional quality ..."

In Cinque Terre you will be able to explore the small villages clinging to the cliffs that plunge down to the sea. They are surrounded by characteristic terraces, which give the landscape a unique and evocative appearance. Still today they are used for the cultivation of vines and olives.

Here's how we'll take you to discover our Cinque Terre, supported by a local tour guide. This is just a proposal, which can be customized according to your specific needs.

You will be welcomed by our tour guide in La Spezia. It starts immediately by train to Riomaggiore, an ancient village on the Eastern Riviera. Once there, it begins the visit of the first of the Cinque Terre villages, where you can admire the suggestive church of San Giovanni Battista, with a 14th Century rose window in white Carrara marble. Then the tour continues with a walk immersed in the Shore of Riomaggiore, a colorful and typical area near the sea, where you can lose yourself in the intersection of small streets.

Then we arrive in Vernazza by train, considered one of the most fascinating and ancient countries. Vernazza is totally immersed in nature, it dates back to 1080 and offers an ancient atmosphere that can be enjoyed while walking in its alleys. The local guide will show you the most beautiful views in the country, after which you will have some free time to enjoy an ice cream, walk or admire the sea.

Then we leave Vernazza to depart by train towards Monterosso. We are in the largest and most populous village of Cinque Terre, in the middle of a small natural gulf on the sea. The visit will let you explore the old part of the village, from the cliff, where the famous Capuchin convent is perched, to the beach with its characteristic white sand.

In the afternoon, we set sail from the port of Monterosso for a boat trip to Portovenere. From the sea you can admire the villages of Cinque Terre immersed in the Ligurian nature, sitting on a comfortable and spacious boat while reaching the next destination.

Thus we reach Portovenere from the sea, the smallest municipality in the province of La Spezia. The first thing you can see is the 13th Century church of San Pietro and the Volcanic Cave of Palmaria. Once on the ground we will visit the village, surmounted by the old Castello Doria and the Sanctuary of the With Madonna.

In the late afternoon we leave Portovenere and its beauties, and we return to La Spezia by boat.
