Day 1: The historical center
Arrival in Genoa in the morning and free time for lunch. In the afternoon meeting with the tour guide and visit of the historic center. A walk through the narrow streets of the city, called "caruggi" fascinating tales reveal the official history with special anecdotes and curiosities, myths and legends, which disclose the charm and beauty of this magnificent city. You will visit Piazza De Ferrari, the Doge's Palace, Christopher Columbus’s House, San Lorenzo’s Cathedral, Piazza Banchi, "Museums of Strada Nuova", Palazzo San Giorgio and the Old Port area. It’s included a cooking class "pesto demostration" organized in the Imperial Palace, with tastings of this typical Genoese sauce and of "focaccia bread" with a glass of wine. Then transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Urban Trekking
Breakfast in the hotel. Meeting with the guide and unusual visit of Genoa, an urban trekking, using the "creuze" (ancient muleteers), which climb from the sea until the quiet hills of the city, from where you can have a very magnificent view of the city. Then visit to the ancient Carmelite friars Pharmacy of 18th century, where they still prepare natural products; it’s included a tasting of rose syrup, produced by the friars still handcrafted. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we suggest:
- Visit of the famous Aquarium, located in the Old Port. It’s one of the largest aquariums in the world, with dolphins, sharks, seals, manatees, turtles, reptiles and many other species;
- Macramè workshop lace knots, Ligurian style;
- Ceramic workshop
In the evening, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Genoa Fortification and the "Casella Train"
Breakfast in the hotel and baggage preparation. Then meeting with the tour guide and transfer to Piazza Manin, a short walk from the historic center, and departure with the “Casella Train”, a narrow gauge railway, that takes to Campi. Natural excursion to Fort Diamante and then, to Forte Fratello Minore, Forte Puin and Forte Sperone, with breathtaking views of the city and the sea. Return by “Casella Train” at Piazza Manin. Free time for lunch and departure.
